Service Description
OVERVIEW & PURPOSE You have learned how to knit and how to purl - so what is next? What is a gauge? What needles do I use? Why? What yarn? I dropped a stitch! UGGH! We will do 10 quick tricks/tips to get you feeling a little more under control with your knitting and understand some of this knitting lingo! OBJECTIVES 1. What is gauge? How do I measure it, why do I care? 2. Should I swatch? What is a swatch? 3. Reading your knitting - which is the knit side? Which is the purl side? Right side, wrong side? 4. How do I increase a stitch (on purpose!)? 5. How do I decrease a stitch (yes, still on purpose!)? 6. How do I unknit? (known as TINK - ing - yes that is KNIT backwards) 7. CRAP! - I dropped a stitch - how do I fix that? 8. Thick yarn vs. thin yard - what is the difference and why do I care? Big needles vs. skinny? 9. What is the info on the yarn label (ball band)? 10. How many rows did I actually knit? How do I count rows? HOMEWORK - Cast on about 30 stitches with any yarn and a larger needle and knit in stockinette stitch (knit one row, purl one row) for about 3 inches.
